pmovibani3.9January 20, 2026I did not like this movie. This movie was an overly fast-paced (writing wise) mess. Nothing felt fluid or made sense about the pace of the story and apparently, only people who had seen the play or read the book actually knew what was going on. Firstly a marker of a bad movie, but also a marker of bad planning. The first movie was so solid, paced well, compelling story and interactions between characters that actually made sense, and motivations of said characters that made sense. None of which showed up for the 2nd movie. One of the most eggregious instances being when the famously selfish bastard Oz, leaves his only home where he was worth anything, because he is somehow no longer selfish and feels bad about being the cause of Elphaba's greenness. But ultimately this movie just turned out so poorly. I think the biggest problem, pacing, could've been fixed with better planning or writing. Ideally by removing the extra things from the story they added for the movie or packing more story into the first movie. Either way, it's an onscreen version of the play or both movies suffer. Perhaps a series that was doomed to fail from the beginning. Not solid. Bad movie. No Good Deed, the monkeys, and the visuals made it palatable.
